Gaara was lying in his bed, staring at his ceiling in total silence.

Gaara could never sleep.

He did sleep sometimes, in the middle of the day, or he just rested. But at night, sleep would never come for him.

Too many things kept him awake. The feelings he didn’t show at day. Sadness, guild. Remorse.

And he wondered. He wondered if this was supposed just to be his life. To live with that beast, that monster inside of him. Maybe even die of it, losing control completely.

And secretly, secretly he had wished for a happy life. That there was someone who didn’t fear, but loved him.

Because there hadn’t been a person like that ever before.

Even his own siblings feared him. He knew that oh-so-well.

Would he ever get the life he wanted?…

Two arms wrapped themselves around Gaara. A face buried itself in his neck.

“Gaara-kun…”

A soft, female voice whispered his name.

Her pink hair fell around her face when she looked up to him. Two emerald eyes looked deeply into his.

“You can’t sleep… again?” The medic from Konoha asked him quietly.

He shook his head.

She sat up straight, shifting his body slightly, pulling his head into her lap. While stroking his dark, red hair out of his face, she began to sing softly.

Gaara closed her eyes, listening to her beautiful voice, feeling her soft touch stroking his forehead.

Finally, Gaara could sleep.
